I went back to street discovery mode, but this time, after exploring the Khao San Road neighbourhood all day, I’m going on a night excursion to the Sukhumvit neighbourhood.

This is almost surprising even if I had read articles on this aspect of Bangkok.

Sukhumvit is a Las Vegas atmosphere, less casinos.

It’s really the neighbourhood of partygoers, Europeans without a backpack, who are there for the 3 B’s, as one of the contacts I had in Thailand before leaving wrote to me: Drink, Eat, Kiss.

That said, I have mainly seen drinking, a lot. I will return to this daytime neighbourhood to discover it differently.

For my day at Khao San Road, it is mainly devoted to randomly entering the streets in all accessible temples. Only a few are closed or paying for foreigners.

In most cases, one can enter the enclosure of the temple. These courses are used as parking and therefore very crowded. There is always a guard at the entrance to a gatehouse but he just says hello.

There are many buildings inside each enclosure. Apparently the dwellings of the monks and maybe maintenance staff, storage rooms, secondary temples.

The only constraints for visiting the interior of the temple: having your shoulders and knees covered and taking off your shoes.

These temples are all a dazzle to the eyes.

WEBP - 75.8 kio

And always, in each street, homeless people more or less well installed.
